Federal grant awards include extensive terms and conditions that govern how funds must be managed, documented, and reported. This course focuses on how to read and prioritize award documents, translate requirements into practical operations, and establish the right combination of policies, procedures, and tracking tools. Participants will learn how to reduce surprises by identifying high-risk requirements early and building a clear, workable compliance plan.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key federal award documents and prioritize which sections and requirements must be reviewed first.
  • Interpret grant terms and conditions and translate legal and regulatory language into operational responsibilities.
  • Determine when policies, procedures, processes, tools, or trackers are required to support specific compliance requirements.
  • Assign roles, timelines, approvals, and documentation responsibilities based on award requirements.
  • Recognize common federal terms and conditions that frequently lead to amendments, monitoring issues, or audit findings.
